Somalia - Primary Health care partnership project
World Vision are teaming up with Unicef in Somalia to help deliver health care solutions to a population that have suffered greatly. Due to prolonged years of civil unrest and destruction of infrastructure, health. Most of the population in Somalia still do not have access to basic health care. They are served by a health system that is under funded and understaffed and under managed. The project will attempt to combat this by reaching people in Bay region, Bakool region, and Middle Juba areas. The project will look to help by nutritionally screening children help identify the children who most urgently need access to better food and access to supplementary feeding programmes or more urgent medical help. The aim being to help over 35 000 children. Vaccinations need to be delivered into the areas and community nurses trained so that more children can be vaccinated and kept healthy. The project will also reach pregnant mothers and help them by supplying clean birthing kits for them to use and help them access care before during and after birth of their children.
