Sierra Leone - Sanitation and Clean water
Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone has been hit over the years by 10 years of violent civil war with the conflict destroying water and sanitation infrastructure and with 70% of the country living below the poverty line means that the lack of basic sanitation facilities, toilets and sewage systems and clean water means that infections and death from basic infections has been high. This project will introduce toilets into community buildings, improve water quality by eliminating the bacteria. Worm and parasite infected water sources in community buildings by building bio water sand filters asimple concrete box fitted with layers of sand and stones filters the water collects in a pipe at bottom and the user collects the clean water. The project will also build toilet blocks in the community buildings repair and fix community water sources and refit water pumps to improve the water supplies in the communities.
