Kenya - Farming for the environment
With the help of supporters, we’re reaching out to more than 900 people in both Bamba and Vitengeni, where 84% of people are living in extreme property.
Lack of rain and over-cultivation of land has left many households struggling to feed their families. That’s why World Vision is helping local people to grow drought-resistant food and cash crops. We’re teaching communities how to store their food after harvest, and equipping farmers with skills on soil and water conservation that they can pass down to future generations.
Farmers in the region are still breeding indigenous cattle and goats which don’t fetch good prices in the local markets. So we’re also introducing improved livestock breeds which weigh more and produce more milk, so farmers can bring more money home to their families.
