Albania - Helping to stop the spread of HIV
Over the last six years there has been a 200% rise in HIV transmission in Albania. An increasingly migratory population, lack of understanding and a sense of disbelief around HIV and AIDS has played a part in this increase. With the help of our supporters, World Vision is working on a range of projects to raise awareness and help prevent the spread of the disease in Albania. We’re working with health and education officials to encourage government commitment to all aspects of HIV prevention, care and support. At the same time we’re training peer educators to teach others about the risks of HIV, and providing life skills education, which gives young people the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to protect themselves and future generations.
