Senegal - Farming to repair the damage.
In the last ten years, many families in Mbellacadia have been left in a vulnerable position due to 70% fall in agricultural production. One of the main reasons for this is the degradation of land caused by desertification, salty soils and outdated agricultural practices. With the help of our supporters, we’re working with local organisations to enable farmers to find sustainable solutions to land problems. This includes training 50 farmers and 80 pupils from six villages on reforestation techniques and recovery of salty land. We’re also promoting good agricultural practices by training 60 model producers who will be able to pass on their skills to other producers and increase household incomes throughout the community.
