Honduras - Extending the reach of healthcare
In Copán Ruins in the department of Copán, 92% of the children have malnourishment. This has a big impact on local communities. It reduces potential income for the family, results in poor health and delays development of children both physically and mentally.
At World Vision, we believe this has to change. That’s why we’re promoting the growth and development of children under the age of five and setting up sustainable community health systems in three communities in Honduras. This involves running workshops to train local people, including mothers, about childhood development and the prevention of childhood diseases. We’re also providing equipment and supplies for nutritional support programs where parents can feed their children and learn how to give them the best possible start in life.
