Neema, 11 and Harusi, 14, Kenya, World Vision 2016

Solar lights

In villages without electricity students struggle to study after dark. Your gift of 4 solar lights will help four children to do their homework, giving them the chance of a brighter future.

Neema and Harusi have each improved their grades, in part because of the solar-powered lamps they received from World Vision. They are now able to study and do chores at night. "The lamps came as a relief to us," says their mother. The family couldn’t always afford the kerosene for their lamps, so the solar lamps provide a reliable source of lighting for the evenings. As well as helping with their education, the solar lamps also mean that the girls are no longer scared to go to the toilet at night in the dark.
